Chief Business Officer
About Atomic Tessellator
We are building a sovereign future by empowering companies and nations to achieve materials breakthroughs, enhance product performance, and secure supply-chain independence through the development of the most powerful first-principles simulation platform for engineering materials research.
We’re a seed-stage company with a headcount of five, and have been around for a little over a year. In this time, we have:
- Built a distributed worker architecture to modularise computational materials science operations.
- Scaled machine-learned interatomic potential (MLIP) models to enable multi-GPU inference, letting us model up to 700,000 atoms
- Completed pilot projects across aerospace, defence, nuclear fusion, and advanced polymers.
- Discovered (and are in the process of patenting) two materials, one of which is a high-temperature rare earth magnet substitute.
How we operate
- Speed is our bread and butter, bias-to-action is our competitive edge.
- We’re constantly error-correcting, and balance explore/exploits.
- We say what we think and do what we say.
About the role
We’re seeking an experienced Chief Business Officer to lead growth opportunities and partnerships across key strategic accounts (e.g. the primes) and the public sector. Having completed our seed fundraise, we can leverage our investors’ networks to gain access to key decision makers across enterprise and public sector.
The biggest component of this role will be to develop and communicate Atomic Tessellator’s narrative and strategic positioning, and drive customer education.
As such, we're seeking:
- A proven track record of driving business outcomes through facilitating high-level conversations with e.g. executives and/or members of parliament.
You’ll be obsessing over the question “what are our customer’s most important business outcomes, what are their CEO’s biggest pain points, and how are materials relevant”.
As a rough guideline:
- 7+ years of experience in leadership & strategy roles across deep-tech startups or hyperscalers.
- Familiarity with said deep-tech ecosystems in Australia and the United States, e.g. government grants and patenting.
- Have taken startups from zero-to-one, and is a generalist with experience taking responsibilities across all parts of the funnel (CRM/systems, cold-outbound, etc).
- Willingness to dive deep on technical knowledge. A physics or materials science background isn’t required, but you should still be a technologist somewhat. The team is patient and will teach you everything you need to know.
Please expect some travelling for this role.
